Conan Chop Chop at StreamerHouse
Conan Chop Chop launched in March 2022 from Mighty Kingdom and Funcom, a cartoony roguelite brawler that took the Conan universe and filtered it through Cuphead's art style with Castle Crashers combat. You played as Conan, Pallantides, Valeria, or a sorcerer in procedurally generated levels, smashing enemies in chaotic 1-4 player co-op. The game was originally announced as an April Fools' joke in 2019, but the reaction was so positive that Funcom greenlit full development. Critics appreciated the art style and accessible gameplay, though some felt the roguelite loop lacked depth compared to Hades or Dead Cells. StreamerHouse's 405-viewer peak in 2022 came during launch week, when the "wait, this is real?" novelty was at its peak. Steam reviews were Mixed (around 60% positive), with players praising the co-op fun but noting repetitive gameplay and limited build variety. Conan Chop Chop was charming, competent, and utterly forgettable—a perfectly fine weekend co-op game that launched into a roguelite-saturated market and drowned in the noise. The real achievement was going from April Fools' gag to actual released game, proof that sometimes memes can become reality if the developer commits to the bit hard enough.
