We suited up in DC Universe Online in 2013, SOE's superhero MMO where you could create your own costumed vigilante or villain and fight alongside DC's iconic roster. The game had been running since 2011, and the house was just starting out. There was something appealing about the premise—design your character, pick a mentor from actual DC characters, and start punching robots and mobsters in Metropolis or Gotham. The 2013 run was short but gave viewers a taste of comic book fantasy. It wasn't the deep character development of a story-driven game, but MMO treadmills have their own rhythm, and DC Universe provided exactly that.
