Dishonored 2 at StreamerHouse
Dishonored 2 launched November 2016 with StreamerHouse pulling 417 viewers, right as the PC version became one of that year's most notorious performance disasters. The game dropped to 13fps in open areas even on powerful hardware, AMD cards struggled worst of all, and mouse controls required manual tweaking to feel remotely functional. Critics had to navigate these issues while reviewing, leading to mixed reception despite the underlying quality. The default mouse smoothing was so bad players had to lift their mouse off the pad multiple times just to turn around. GameSpot noted frame rate variability "more pronounced than any other game"—doubling between indoor and outdoor scenes. Bethesda's new review policy (copies only one day before launch) meant players didn't know about issues until they'd already bought it. Despite sitting at 65% on Steam initially, Arkane eventually patched it into a "perfectly decent experience." Digital Foundry even re-reviewed it in March 2017, calling improvements "night and day." StreamerHouse playing through the chaos in 2016 experienced a Game Revolution #2 GOTY pick buried under technical incompetence at launch.
