Radical Heights at StreamerHouse
Radical Heights crashed into StreamerHouse in 2018, hitting 394 peak viewers for Boss Key Productions' desperate battle royale Hail Mary that died within 30 days. Launched April 10th in "X-Treme Early Access" after just five months of work, Cliff Bleszinski's studio scrambled to capitalize on PUBG/Fortnite hype following LawBreakers's catastrophic failure. StreamerHouse witnessed the 1980s gameshow aesthetic—spinning prize wheels, BMX bikes, and persistent money collection for cosmetics or in-match weapon access. Launch day peaked at 8,500 concurrent Steam players, barely surpassing LawBreakers's 7,500—not enough to compete with millions playing genre leaders. Critics called it a "cash-in" released in "very early state," though some appreciated the novel mechanics like banking money at ATMs and inflatable decoys. Bleszinski later admitted: "LawBreakers failed to gain traction, and in a last-ditch attempt we scrambled to do our take on battle royale... well received, however, it was too little too late." Boss Key Productions shut down May 14th, 2018—one month and four days post-launch. For StreamerHouse, Radical Heights epitomized the battle royale goldrush's casualties: ambitious studios chasing trends without the runway to iterate, leaving only cautionary tales about timing and market saturation.
