Wartales marched onto our streams in 2023 after Shiro Games exited Early Access April 12. We ran 7.5 hours of gritty medieval mercenary management—a tactical RPG where you lead a warband through a plague-ravaged world making morally gray choices about robbery, murder, and sacrifice just to keep your soldiers fed. The 237-viewer peak was dedicated tactical RPG audience appreciation. This wasn't flashy—it was deep turn-based combat, economic simulation, and emergent storytelling. 200+ hours of content, 1 million copies sold by late 2024, 79 on Metacritic. Wartales proved indie studios could deliver the strategy experience that AAA studios forgot about.
